Overview analytics
/organizations/:id/analytics surfaces organization-level performance reporting for guest experiences. The dashboard exposes this link when the current user can read/list landing pages or tours, or when the user is assigned as a guide in the organization.
Questions Analytics Answers
Analytics helps teams understand whether guest-facing content is working:
- Which landing pages, tours, or related experiences are receiving attention?
- Are guests reaching important tiles, routes, or conversion points?
- Do guide or tour workflows show enough activity to justify follow-up?
- Should an event, hospitality, destination, or campaign team update content before launch?
Analytics is a starting point for operational decisions. For detailed debugging, open the underlying landing page, tour, tile, event, or widget record that produced the activity.
Visitor origins and campaigns
Full visitor analytics includes countries, referring websites, and campaigns for the selected entity or organization and date range. Each breakdown uses the same recorded visits as the total; shares include unknown and untagged visits. A visit retains the existing 20-minute per-visitor, per-entity deduplication rule.
Referrers show website hostnames. Paths, credentials, query strings, and fragments are discarded. Campaigns group the combination of utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign; values are limited to 200 characters. These tags survive short-link redirects and are read from the embedding page for widgets. The latest external entry or tagged campaign follows navigation in the current tab until 30 minutes without tracked navigation. This does not connect activity across domains or devices.
Countries are approximate connection locations, inferred locally with DB-IP Country Lite. Visitor IPs are not sent to a geolocation provider or stored in analytics. VPNs and proxies can change the inferred country. Offline replays, missing databases, and unresolvable addresses produce unknown country. Existing records are not backfilled: historical referrers can be shown, while missing country/campaign values remain unavailable.
The country and referrer panels and campaign table initially show ten rows; “Show all” reveals the remaining rows. “Direct / unavailable” includes hidden, missing, invalid, and internal app referrers. “No campaign recorded” includes historical visits without campaign data. These breakdowns are currently available in visitor analytics, rather than platform analytics or report exports.
Country database operations
The geoip-updater service checks daily for the current monthly DB-IP Country Lite release, validates it, and replaces the local database atomically. The API, mobile app, and short-link service read the same directory. A failed update retains the last valid database. Check updater logs for the loaded month and refresh failures. For local development, download the database using the updater and set SCOUTELLO_GEOIP_DB_PATH to the resulting country.mmdb; without it, country is unknown.
Country data is supplied by DB-IP under CC BY 4.0. The country panel includes the provider attribution.
